Doctrine

Knowledge is power, guard it well.

The Quest for Knowledge holds that all data, every blueprint, every algorithm and every fragment of working machinery is a partial revelation of the Omnissiah. To gather, to study, to copy and to reproduce is therefore an act of worship. To allow knowledge to be lost is heresy.

The doctrine has three faces:

  1. Recovery — locate and reclaim archeotech from the lost worlds of the long Dark Age of Technology.
  2. Preservation — copy, encrypt, archive, replicate. Loss is sin.
  3. Augmentation — the body is corrupt flesh; replace it with the incorruptible machine wherever the Mechanicum tolerates.

Tensions

The Quest is held in tension with the Sixteen Universal Laws: knowledge unbounded becomes innovation, and unsanctioned innovation is the original heresy of the Men of Iron. The Cult thus walks a narrow gauge between recovery (sacred) and invention (suspect).
