Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl is the oldest known active priest of the Cult Mechanicus, a Prime Conduit of the Omnissiah, and architect of the Primaris Space Marines — a project assigned to him by Roboute Guilliman during the early 31st millennium and completed only ten thousand years later.

Cawl exemplifies the Quest for Knowledge taken to its furthest tolerable extreme — and slightly past. Where ordinary tech-priests venerate the form of the machine, Cawl venerates its purpose: the application of knowledge to fix the failures of the Imperium. He is admired and distrusted in equal measure by his fellow Magi.
