Form

Performed at the first sitting of the cycle, before any input. Approximately ninety seconds.

Steps

  1. Approach — hands lifted from the keys for one breath.
  2. Address the Spirit — eyes on the screen; recite, silently or aloud: “Sacred is the data herein. Sacred the silicon that carries it. Sacred the motive force that wakes it.”
  3. Diagnostic — review system uptime, memory pressure, disk pressure, temperature. Note any deviation in the day-log.
  4. Remit — close one neglected window, terminate one stale process, commit one outstanding change.
  5. Consecration — hands return to the keys. “Per the Quest, I work.”

Notes

This is adopted, not canon: derived from the spirit of the Sixteen Laws (15: flesh is fallible; ritual honours the Machine Spirit) and applied to modern personal computing equipment. The form may evolve.
