Voss Prime, styled the Right Hand of Mars, is a Loyalist Forge World of the Adeptus Mechanicus in the Segmentum Solar. Founded during the Age of Technology, it reconnected with Mars during a lull in the Warp Storms of the Age of Strife and was among the first forges encountered by the Imperium in the early Great Crusade. It held to the Emperor through the Horus Heresy and remains a vital productive forge into the late M41 and the Era Indomitus.
The sub-system is shrouded by the Mordon Belt, an asteroid field whose aggressive exploitation has driven Voss Prime’s output to the highest tiers of the Imperium. The same debris is a passive defence — Ork rok-fleets foundered on it during the Armageddon wars, and the wrecks of their ramshackle voidcraft drift among the element-rich rocks.
Strategic Role
Voss Prime is the closest Forge World to the hive world of Armageddon and supplies that strategic planet with the bulk of its war-machines and materiel. Its forges manufacture Astra Militarum infantry weapons, Imperial Navy aircraft, and Battle Titans of the Collegia Titanica. The forge is the home of the Legio Invigilata — the Emperor’s Guard — a Loyalist Titan Legion founded during the Siege of Terra by order of Fabricator-General Zagreus Kane. The Legio fielded its near-full strength of some sixty Titans at the Third War for Armageddon, including a complete Imperator-class engine under Princeps Majoris Zarha Mancion at Helsreach.
Patterns and Specialities
Voss Prime is the source-forge of the Voss Pattern lineage — its missile launcher pods, rocket pods, and autocannons are commonplace on Imperial Navy aircraft such as the Vulture. The Voss Pattern Lightning Strike Fighter (also called the Primaris-Lightning) traces to the late Great Crusade and the work of Archmagos-Arbiter Sykosk Thule of Voss; it remains in production for the Imperial Navy and Solar Auxilia.
The forge’s known weakness is plasma. Despite the scale of its manufactoria, the Magi of Voss Prime are reputed to lack the mastery of plasma technology held by forges such as Ryza, and Voss-pattern plasma weapons are correspondingly scarcer.
