Summary

A specialist Tech-Priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus devoted to data analysis, statistics, logistics and predictive forecast — a data-vore whose pronouncements verge on the prophetic.

Lore

A Logis is a Tech-Priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus whose specialism is the harvest, rationalisation and projection of data. Trained as analyst, statistician and logistician, the Logis exists to reduce the chaos of the material universe into trend lines, supply tables and probability curves. Their predictions inform Mechanicus expenditure, war-materiel allocation, exploratory deployment and the long forecasts by which the priesthood plans across centuries.

The Mechanicus codex describes them in unambiguous terms: “Data-vores and biocogitators, logi amass huge stores of information. They analyse data from thousands of sources, rationalising every weak point the foe has. It is a fool indeed that stands before a logi and their prize.” Because their forecasts so often come to pass, the Logi are regarded by their lesser brethren as prophetic figures — though the Logis themselves repudiate the mystical reading: there is no prophecy, only sufficient data.

Doctrine

The Logis sits within the magi ranks of the priesthood, peer to the Magos Dominus of the war-arts, the Magos Genetor of the bio-sciences and the artisan-magi of the forge. Where the Dominus commands and the Genetor probes flesh, the Logis measures. Their tools are the Cogitator, the Noosphere and the great archives, and their output is the strategic estimate.

In the field, a Logis attached to an Explorator cohort marks targets of acquisition and computes optimal vectors of assault: which weak point to strike, which moment to commit, which datum to seize. The Mechanicus rates this contribution highly enough that, in current battle doctrine, a Logis leading a unit grants improved fire against any foe contesting a designated Acquisition objective.

Game Profile

In the 10th Edition Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus, Logis appears as a 20-point Enhancement available to any TECH-PRIEST character within the Explorator Maniple detachment. While the bearer leads a unit, every attack made by a model in that unit against a target within range of the Acquisition objective marker adds +1 to the Hit roll. The detachment’s governing rule, Acquisition at Any Cost, sets the Logis’s analytic gift in mechanical terms: knowing precisely where the foe is weakest is, at the table, a hit-roll bonus.
