Summary
Holy power-weapon of the Cult Mechanicus — sacred glaive and combi-tool granted to Tech-Priests and Techmarines who have proven their faith to the Omnissiah in battle.
Lore
The Omnissian Axe — also styled the Omnissian glaive — is a holy icon of the Cult Mechanicus, granted to Tech-Priests and Techmarines who have shown their faith to the Machine God in battle. It is no common armament: forged of the finest materials with the secrets of advanced tempering and power-field generation, the Omnissian Axe is reckoned to have no equal among power weapons.
Its long staff-like haft is tipped with one half of the skull-and-cog icon of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the curve forming the blade. Saw-toothed and inscribed with sacred equations and circuitry sigils, the head is sheathed in a crackling power field. Many a foe has mistaken the weapon for a ceremonial walking-staff and learned the truth too late.
To the followers of the Machine God, the bearer of an Omnissian glaive is a most blessed figure — a furious incarnation of the Omnissiah’s wrath in war.
Dual Function — Weapon and Tool
The Omnissian Axe is both sacred armament and combi-tool. Its head and handle conceal the implements a Tech-Priest requires to commune with and repair machine-spirits in the field — diagnostic probes, servo-couplings, and the like. The Magos who wields it strikes down the foe with one swing and consecrates a wounded war-engine with the next.
Patterns and Bearers
Several recognised patterns exist:
- Astartes Pattern — borne by Techmarines of the Adeptus Astartes, marking their devotion to the Omnissiah after their training on Mars.
- Sollex Pattern — a related variant similar in most respects to the Astartes form.
Common bearers include the Tech-Priest Enginseer, the Tech-Priest Dominus, the Techmarine, and senior Magi of every rank. The axe is gifted only by a superior — it is never simply requisitioned.
Tabletop Profile (10th Edition)
On the Tech-Priest Enginseer datasheet, the Omnissian Axe is profiled as a melee weapon:
| Profile | Range | A | WS | S | AP | D |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Omnissian Axe | Melee | 3 | 4+ | 6 | -2 | 2 |
The profile gives the weapon solid utility against infantry and light vehicles, fitting for a battlefield-engineer who must crack a hull as readily as he mends one.
