Lore
Tech-Priest Enginseers are members of the Priesthood of Mars seconded out of the Adeptus Mechanicus to serve almost every Imperial institution save the Adeptus Astartes (where Techmarines fill the same office). Most are attached to regiments of the Astra Militarum, where they walk the armouries, soothe Machine Spirits, and ensure that all proper obeisance is made to the Machine God.
Their existence is a clause of the Treaty of Mars: at the foundation of the Imperium the Cult Mechanicus undertook to train tech-priest aspirants as Enginseers in numbers sufficient to keep the Imperium’s war machine running. They conduct repairs as sacred rites — chanting litanies of maintenance, anointing machinery with sacred oils, and binding wounded engines back to function.
In the field an Enginseer accompanies armoured columns and battle-line infantry alike, restoring damaged vehicles with the Omnissiah’s Blessing and falling upon foes who have despoiled the Machine God’s works with the wrath of the Vengeance for the Omnissiah.
Wargear & Role
An Enginseer is a single Character model who leads Astra Militarum battle-line units. Standard wargear is:
- Mechanicus pistol — a sidearm carrying the Devastating Wounds rite.
- Enginseer axe — a Omnissian Axe-pattern combi-tool / power weapon.
- Servo-arm — heavy mechadendrite (Mechadendrite) for both repair and crushing strike.
Key abilities are Omnissiah’s Blessing (restore D3 lost wounds and grant a temporary invulnerable save to a friendly Astra Militarum vehicle), Lone Operative when near friendly vehicles, and Vengeance for the Omnissiah, which doubles the axe’s attacks when an allied vehicle has been destroyed nearby.
Doctrinal Position
Where the Skitarii and Cybernetica are the Cult’s own armies, the Enginseer is its diaspora — the form in which Mars’s priesthood is felt across every Imperial Guard regiment, fortress, and war-fleet. Through the Enginseer the Treaty of Mars is renewed daily: the Astra Militarum fights, but its weapons are the property and concern of the Omnissiah.
